WE ASSIST MINORS AFFECTED

 BY HUMAN TRAFFICKING

 TO REBUILD A NORMAL LIFE

THE PROBLEM

The lack of opportunities constantly causes rescued victims to fall back again into the traps of human trafficking

ABOUT US

The "Ajayu Project" is part of "Red Kawsay", a group of women and men, members of religious communities of the Catholic Church in Perú, engaged in fighting human trafficking and assisting victims.

As part of the civil society, we  offer missing complementary services to minor victims residing in a shelter run by the government. We offer workshops in a safe house, a place to share, as well as tools for dealing with emotional trauma and building hope for a better future.

Our organisation works in Puno, the third region in incidence for human trafficking in Peru. Due to safety reasons the exact location will not be available on the website.

Our activities

Regularly we invite the girls to our farm to spend an entire day with us. In order to guarantee both security and coordination with the professionals that are responsible for them in the shelter, two or three members of the staff are actively participating. Our workshops follow a sequence of contents that include elements related to art, encounter with animals and connecting with nature.

For example,  by relating to horses the girls  gain confidence: horses are animals that impress with their size, but are also extremely sensitive to the emotional state of the persons that surround them. By observing their reactions, the girls are invited to reflect on their own process of growth.  Confidence is a key resource to overcome the mental state of being a victim.
